What dietitian support looks like at TonedMD

Nutrition at TonedMD isn't a pamphlet or a calorie counter — it's a real working relationship with a credentialed dietitian who knows the Five Towns and knows your goals.

Personalized nutrition assessment

Asal reviews your health history, current eating patterns, lifestyle, preferences, and goals before making any recommendations.

A plan built for your real schedule

No rigid meal plans you'll abandon in two weeks. Asal builds practical strategies around how you actually live — work, family, and all.

Ongoing support & accountability

Regular follow-up visits — in person or via telehealth — to review progress, troubleshoot challenges, and adjust your approach as your needs evolve.

Education & habit coaching

Understanding why certain foods work for your body is just as important as what to eat. Asal explains the "why" so you can make confident choices on your own.

Coordination with your medical team

When you're in a TonedMD program, Asal collaborates directly with your provider to align your nutrition plan with any medications or treatment milestones.

Weight management & metabolic health

From healthy eating foundations to nutrition strategies for insulin resistance and metabolic conditions — evidence-based support for your long-term health.

TonedMD weight-loss results — medical and nutrition support combined

Better results when nutrition and medication work together

GLP-1 medications like Semaglutide and Tirzepatide are powerful tools — but they work best when paired with smart nutrition. Our in-house dietitian ensures your eating habits amplify what your medication is already doing.

  • Maximize fat loss while protecting lean muscle mass
  • Manage common GLP-1 side effects (nausea, satiety shifts) with targeted food strategies
  • Build habits that sustain your results long after medication is tapered
  • Prevent nutrient gaps that can develop during appetite suppression
  • Coordinate nutrition milestones with your provider's clinical check-ins

Nutrition counseling — what to expect

Real answers to questions we hear from patients every week.

Do I need to be a weight-loss patient to see the dietitian?

No. Nutrition counseling with Asal is available as a standalone service. You don't have to be enrolled in our medical weight-loss program — many patients come to her for general healthy eating, habit building, or to complement care they're already receiving elsewhere.

Is nutrition included in my TonedMD program?

Yes — dietitian support is built into every TonedMD program, not offered as an add-on. From your first visit, Asal works alongside your medical provider to align your nutrition plan with your treatment goals, whether you're on GLP-1 therapy, a non-GLP program, or focused on metabolic health.

Do you offer virtual nutrition visits?

Yes. Asal sees patients via telehealth across all of New York State. You don't have to come into the Cedarhurst office for nutrition visits — video appointments are available during regular clinic hours (Monday–Thursday 10 AM–6 PM, Sunday 10:30 AM–1:30 PM).

What's your approach — do you put patients on strict diets?

No crash plans, no extreme elimination diets. Asal's approach is rooted in evidence-based practice and realistic habit building. She meets you where you are, understands your lifestyle, food preferences, and schedule, then builds a plan that actually fits your real life — so the results last.

How does nutrition support improve GLP-1 results?

GLP-1 medications reduce appetite and slow gastric emptying, which means food choices become more impactful than ever. Working with a dietitian during GLP-1 therapy helps patients maximize fat loss, protect muscle mass, and build eating habits that sustain results when the medication is eventually tapered.
