Getting started with a medically supervised weight-loss program does not require a trip to a clinic. TonedMD offers fully licensed telehealth visits for weight-loss patients across New York — the same clinical standard as an in-office visit, conducted from wherever you are most comfortable. This article walks through who qualifies, what the visit looks like, and how medication is handled when everything happens remotely.

Who Can Use TonedMD Telehealth in New York

Telehealth weight-loss visits at TonedMD are available to adults located in New York State. You do not need to live in the Five Towns or even on Long Island. Patients in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Westchester, and elsewhere in New York are welcome.

In terms of clinical eligibility, telehealth patients go through the same evaluation as in-office patients. Most healthy adults with a BMI of 27 or above, or 25 and above with a weight-related condition, who have tried to lose weight through diet and exercise without lasting success, are potential candidates for our programs. The provider you meet with during your telehealth visit will review your history and let you know specifically which programs are right for you.

What Happens at Your First Telehealth Visit

Your first telehealth appointment is a free 15-minute consultation. You will receive a secure link before the visit — no downloads, no account setup, just a link you open in your browser on your phone, tablet, or computer.

During the consultation, your provider will:

If you are a good candidate and want to move forward, the provider will outline next steps, which may include completing a more detailed intake form, obtaining recent lab work (we can advise on what is needed and where to get it), or scheduling a follow-up visit to begin the program.

How Prescriptions Work via Telehealth

For patients who qualify for GLP-1 medications, TonedMD's licensed providers can issue prescriptions through a telehealth visit. In New York, this is fully lawful and standard practice for weight-management care.

Prescriptions are sent electronically to a pharmacy. For GLP-1 medications, we work with pharmacies that dispense both brand-name options (Wegovy, Zepbound) and compounded semaglutide or tirzepatide, depending on your insurance situation, budget, and what is appropriate for your protocol. Your provider will discuss which path makes sense for you at your visit.

Medications are shipped directly to your home or to a pharmacy of your choice. We will also walk you through how to self-administer the weekly injection on your first call — it is a brief process and most patients are comfortable with it quickly.

Follow-Up Visits

Weight-loss programs at TonedMD involve regular follow-up, which also happens via telehealth for patients who prefer it. Typical follow-ups occur every 4–6 weeks during the active phase of a GLP-1 program — your provider checks in on how you are tolerating the current dose, reviews any side effects, discusses dose adjustments, and supports any questions around nutrition or lifestyle. These visits are brief and practical.

Some patients transition from telehealth to in-office visits over time, particularly once they want to add in-clinic services like IV therapy, aesthetic treatments, or B12 injections. Others manage their entire program through telehealth indefinitely — both approaches work.

Nutrition Guidance via Telehealth

TonedMD's approach to weight loss is not just a prescription. Every program includes nutrition guidance, which is also available via telehealth. Our team helps patients understand how to eat in a way that supports the medication's effects — specifically, how to maintain adequate protein intake, avoid the muscle loss that can accompany rapid weight loss, and build habits that hold up after the active program concludes. You do not need to travel for any of this.
